From the founder’s vision to the relentless commitment of the family, Bottaro has grown thanks to a unique blend of advanced technology, teamwork, and environmental respect. In this interview, CEO Alberto Bottaro shares not only the achievements but also the journey of innovation and the dreams that continue to drive the company’s future.
Interviewer: Good morning, Engineer Bottaro. Thank you for taking the time for this interview. Despite your busy schedule, you are always available for the marketing team and customers. Where does this priority come from?
Alberto Bottaro: Good morning. I firmly believe that communicating with customers is essential. Over the years, I have traveled extensively to meet them personally, but the pandemic has taught us that digital technologies can also be powerful allies. Nothing replaces human contact, but video calls allow us to save time and money and reduce our environmental impact by optimizing our processes.
Interviewer: Let’s talk about your technological and robotic systems, an aspect you are proud of. How did the idea of automating a production line come about?
Alberto Bottaro: It all starts with observation. I spend a lot of time in operational departments, studying operators’ work, assessing production, and resolving issues related to evolving regulations. My goal has always been to offer a unique product with superior quality and fast delivery times while improving our team’s working conditions.
Interviewer: What are the main challenges you face in this process?
Alberto Bottaro: Meeting market demands, product quality, and sustainability simultaneously is a complex balance. It requires imagination, expertise, and constant updates. I regularly attend trade fairs and meet with customers to understand their needs deeply. This direct approach is demanding but essential to maintaining leadership.
Interviewer: You are known for being actively involved in all operational phases, including plant installation. Can you tell us more about this?
Alberto Bottaro: Certainly. Installation is a crucial moment – everything must be meticulously organized to ensure safety and production continuity. Although we have specific managers, I like to be actively involved to support the team. I strongly believe in teamwork and in training competent and respected leaders within the company.
Interviewer: They say you are very demanding…
Alberto Bottaro: Yes, I am demanding, but this has allowed me to build a winning, motivated, and collaborative team. Our projects always aim to improve the daily lives of colleagues and people in the surrounding areas. For example, in our “Invisible Thread” commercials, we highlight these values that have made us a benchmark in the industry.
Interviewer: Technological innovation and sustainability – how do these two aspects integrate into your production?
Alberto Bottaro: Automation and sustainability are closely linked. Robotic systems ensure high-quality products at lower costs while respecting environmental regulations. We reduce plastic use by adopting recycled materials and designing solutions that facilitate the work of people with different abilities. For instance, plastic is a material we use with great caution. Although there are no viable alternatives yet to ensure the safety of transporting our steel, we constantly work to reduce plastic consumption, using only recycled materials.
Interviewer: How do these solutions materialize in the market?
Alberto Bottaro: A practical example is our focus on strict road safety regulations. Every package we produce is designed to ensure the safe transport of our steel products, preventing damage and adhering to high standards. This approach not only protects operators but also ensures responsible product management, which many buyers appreciate compared to less advanced solutions from competitors.
Interviewer: What challenges do you face using recycled plastic in your packaging?
Alberto Bottaro: Automation and sustainability go hand in hand. Robotic systems ensure high-quality products at lower costs while respecting environmental regulations. We reduce plastic use by adopting recycled materials and designing solutions that facilitate the work of people with different abilities. For example, packaging preserves the integrity of the product while minimizing risks for operators handling the goods. Even plastic, if not properly treated, can create problems for pallet handlers, as packaging can slip when picked up with steel-bladed forklifts. Although no viable alternatives currently exist for safely transporting our steel, we constantly work to reduce plastic consumption by using only recycled materials.
Interviewer: How do these solutions affect the team’s work?
Alberto Bottaro: Our packaging is designed to be easily handled by everyone, regardless of physical ability, ensuring equal opportunities for all workers. This guarantees inclusion and safety for operators, which is essential for us. Many of our employees feel actively involved in the team thanks to these measures.
Interviewer: I notice that you often use the plural, and even though you are the president, you feel like part of the team. Am I wrong?
Alberto Bottaro: You are not wrong. I have dedicated my entire career to learning and teaching department heads and managers how to become good leaders. The goal is to create balanced, competent resources who respect their colleagues. That’s why I often visit departments to personally ensure that the company atmosphere aligns with our ethical code.
Interviewer: The company has grown significantly. How is this evolution reflected in your personal story?
Alberto Bottaro: Yes, it’s true. Years ago, the company was much smaller, and my brother Marco and I helped our father develop it, each contributing with our skills. However, I believe the teamwork of all the technicians from that time and those who have contributed to our growth over the years is the real result of a great dream we have realized together.
Interviewer: Have you ever doubted the success of a project?
Alberto Bottaro: Every project is a challenge. I remember the first robot installed in Novate in 2000 – it took 12 months of intense work to get it running. I spent weekends in the workshop, but ultimately, we succeeded thanks to teamwork and perseverance.
Interviewer: What can we expect for Bottaro’s future?
Alberto Bottaro: We are working on an ambitious project that I can’t wait to share. For now, I can only say that we aim to exceed market expectations once again with increasingly advanced and sustainable technologies.
Innovation, teamwork, and sustainability – Bottaro’s future is already here.
